Our guest of honor was Chris Shuba, Founder and CEO of Helios Quantitative Research. He and his team are what we affectionately call “Quants”. They collect and analyze data, taking a strict mathematical and emotionless approach to investing. In other words, they let the data drive decisions rather than emotion or opinion.
Helios provides economic, market, and portfolio construction research to advisory firms (including ours) across the country, collectively managing over $30 billion in assets.
After a tumultuous 2020, Brian started things off by sharing “5 Things I Learned (Re-Learned) in 2020”.
Chris then delivered his commentary on how economic data is analyzed to determine equity market risk. He then gave us his assessment of current economic conditions and discussed potential risks to the recovery.
